Amitabh Bachchan confirms he has tested positive for COVID-19, says he has been ‘shifted to hospital’

Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati hospital, after testing positive for COVID-19. Taking to his Twitter handle the star made the shocking announcement while also asking those who came in close proximity with him to get themselves tested.

“I have tested COVID positive… shifted to Hospital… hospital informing authorities… family and staff undergone tests, results awaited…” he said in his post.

He went on to add, “All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested!”

This clarification comes in hours after news broke of the actor being hospitalised, but the reasons were unconfirmed.

Bachchan, has been one of the leading Bollywood stars lending his support to various campaigns against the virus and also providing relief to those migrant and daily wage workers in the industry.

The actor, who has a long list of films remaining to be completed. However, owing to the government’s lockdown rules for senior citizens, he has been unable to return to the film sets.

reports had stated that the actor is among the many senior actors who cannot go back to work until the Maharashtra government makes amendments in its guidelines.

It was only Saturday morning that reports stated that fellow B-town actress Rekha’s building was sealed by the BMC after a security guard tested positive for COVID-19. The building was also declared as a containment zone.
