Apurva Asrani calls Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni Razdan’s views on Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise “Untrue” | Hindi Movie News

Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise has reignited a lot of issues in Bollywood which includes nepotism, outsider vs insider debate and also the issue of depression. Celebrities have taken to social media to express their views on the same.
Recently, Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni Razdan broke her silence after her husband Mahesh Bhatt was being accused of promoting nepotism in Bollywood. She also went on to link Sushant Singh Rajput’s death to depression. Filmmaker Apurva Asrani who also has been actively debating these issues jumped in to disagree with her.

In her tweets, Soni said, “@Apurvasrani What’s really bothering me in all this is the fact that the real issue – depression and mental illness – is now obfuscated by sound and fury. The point being that depression does not need a reason to engulf a person. It comes unbidden to the successful, the rich as much as anyone else. Think Robin Williams Kate Spade Anthony Bourdain and countless others. When you talk around the main issue you do a great disservice to all those who may be also suffering and think it’s due to external circumstances when in fact.. it’s due to an internal one that the person suffering cannot control.”

Disagreeing with her Apurva replied by saying, “Untrue ma’am. Depression can be triggered by environmental factors like social isolation & a stressful workplace too. Unfair to diagnose Sushant’s depression on twitter. But we do know of a campaign to label him a rapist, unprofessional & a write off. It shouldn’t be covered up.”

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise, his fans have been protesting against Bollywood celebrities like Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor and others for either promoting nepotism or being a product of one.
