Recalling her memories of working with Sushant in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ Vaani says, “I had met him for the first time at YRF, it was a reading session and Manish Sharma was there. I remember walking in and Sushant gave me the warmest smile. You know when you get that comfort feeling about someone even though you don’t know them that well because they treat you with love and warmth. Sushant was very helpful and sweet. Throughout the film he was really sweet to me. He was so talented, when I see him in ‘Dil Bechara‘ now I just realise what a good actor he was. That void will always be there for all of us. It makes you feel gloomy when you think of what happened. Sushant was my first co-actor so that will always be a special memory?”
Vaani’s next film ‘Bell Bottom’ will begin shoot in the UK in the middle of the worldwide pandemic.Talking about the precautions she will be taking while shooting ‘Bell Bottom’ Vaani says, “It goes without saying that we will be extra cautious and take all preventive measures as many as possible. I think the way I am looking at it is that one will eventually have to move out of their houses and work for their living. This is my way of doing that and I think the team of Bell Bottom is doing a wonderful job of ensuring that all preventive measures are being taken.”
Despite being one of the most popular and mainstream actresses in Bollywood, Vaani isn’t exactly a social butterfly. Talking about her ‘core-people’ in her life who keep her sane, Vaani adds, “You know these are the people who keep me sane and I cherish them all my life. My core people who I call my anchor and support are not actually from the industry. I like it like that because I feel more grounded and I find this part of my life very real. I am not extremely social and I don’t make too many friends so I really value and treasure the ones who are part of my inner circle.”
On a parting note, Vaani wishes that the year 2020 packs its bag soon and we usher into a year that has happiness and joy. “I don’t have anything polite to say to 2020! I am just waiting for it to get over and nothing to get carried forward to 2021 so that we can all have a normal life.”
